China Holds 'Trade Friction Response Conference'... "Efforts Needed to Prevent and Resolve Risks" 2025 National Trade Friction Response Working Conference. Ministry of Commerce of China

On April 25, the Ministry of Commerce of China announced that it held the "2025 National Trade Friction Response Working Conference" in Beijing from April 24 to 25.

The Ministry stated that the meeting brought together relevant central government departments, provincial-level trade agencies, industry associations, and research institutions. During the conference, participants reviewed the status of trade friction response efforts since 2024, studied and assigned key tasks for this year, and heard a speech from Vice Minister of Commerce Yan Dong.

According to the Ministry of Commerce, the meeting emphasized that "China's trade frictions have now entered a high-intensity phase," and stressed the need to "remain confident and resolute in the face of difficulties and challenges, develop strategies, and turn crises into new opportunities."

The Ministry also urged participants to clarify their political stance, strengthen bottom-line and red-line thinking, and focus efforts on preventing and resolving trade risks.

Chinese authorities have previously held annual meetings on trade issues under names such as the "National Trade Remedy Working Conference." This year, in response to the declaration of a tough stance against trade conflicts with the "Trump second-term" U.S. administration, the name of the meeting was changed to the "Trade Friction Response Working Conference."
