Paper on "Perception Analysis of the Tokyo Olympics through Social Media Big Data Analysis" Receives Most Citations

The Korea Sports Industry Management Association (President Lee Junghak) has contributed to the development of the sports industry and sports management over the past 30 years since its establishment in 1995.
The Academic Award ceremony was held on April 19 at the 2025 Korea Sports Industry Management Association Spring Academic Conference at Kyung Hee University International Campus. The conference was held under the theme "Convergence of Sports and Technology: A New Vision Leading Professional Sports Innovation."
Dr. Taehoon Kim and Professor Eungsu Oh received the Academic Award as their paper, "Perception Analysis of the Tokyo Olympics through Social Media Big Data Analysis," was selected as the most cited paper among those published in the association's journal over the past three years.
This paper, with Dr. Taehoon Kim as the first author and Professor Eungsu Oh as the corresponding author, analyzes consumer perceptions of the Tokyo Olympics based on unstructured data collected from social media and news sources.
The study was recognized for analyzing public opinion trends and perceptions regarding mega sports events, and for suggesting the potential use of its findings as foundational data for future mega sports event hosting and policy-making.
Dr. Taehoon Kim, who teaches at Dong-A University's Department of Physical Education, said, "I am deeply grateful that my paper was selected as the most cited among many excellent studies. It is even more meaningful to me that the questions raised during the research were received as significant both academically and in the field."
Professor Eungsu Oh stated, "I am very pleased and honored that our research team's efforts have been widely recognized through this award. I am grateful to have contributed, even in a small way, to the academic research of the Korea Sports Industry Management Association."
