Know-how in AI Vision Inspection and Robot Automation
Did you know about the first smart factory in the food and beverage industry?
Local company Daesun Distilling, led by CEO Choi Hongseong, held an event to unveil its state-of-the-art in-house smart factory.
On April 25 at 10:30 a.m., Daesun Distilling announced that it hosted a "K-Smart Lighthouse Factory" tour at its Busan Gijang plant for around 30 participants, including officials from the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Promotion Group, and representatives from domestic companies selected for the autonomous factory construction project.
This event was organized to share the success story of Daesun Distilling, which became the first K-Smart Lighthouse Factory in the food and beverage industry and recently obtained "Level 4" certification, the advanced stage of smart factory development. The event also aimed to support the spread of smart manufacturing innovation in the domestic manufacturing sector.
After being selected for the K-Smart Lighthouse Factory project led by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups in 2021, Daesun Distilling worked with POSCO DX to establish its smart factory and received final project success approval on April 23.
Participants listened to a briefing on Daesun Distilling's company profile and the achievements of the K-Smart Lighthouse Factory project, then toured the smart factory production facilities equipped with cutting-edge technology. They showed particular interest in the on-site application of ▲ an artificial intelligence (AI)-based vision inspection system, ▲ process logistics automation using robots, and ▲ enhanced industrial security systems, expressing strong enthusiasm for smart manufacturing innovation. Afterwards, there was a tasting session for products produced through the smart process.
Daesun Distilling's smart factory has been certified at "Level 4," which enables data-driven, real-time process control and predictive response. Building on this achievement, Daesun Distilling plans to host a factory tour on April 28 for around 30 professors and students from the Department of Industrial Engineering at Pusan National University to introduce the smart process construction process.
Choi Hongseong, CEO of Daesun Distilling, said, "By successfully building a smart factory that will lead a new paradigm in manufacturing, we are achieving visible results in various fields, including improved productivity and quality, as well as the establishment of a safer working environment. We will actively support and cooperate so that regional small and medium-sized companies can achieve successful smart manufacturing innovation based on Daesun Distilling's success story."
