Asan City Holds Integrity Improvement Meeting... Calls for Action on Favoritism and Abuse of Power

On April 25, Asan City in South Chungcheong Province announced that, although it received high marks in its own integrity assessment, vulnerabilities were identified in areas such as favoritism and abuse of power, prompting discussions on improvement measures.

On April 23, the city held a meeting in the city hall situation room to discuss strategies for improving integrity, with a focus on senior officials.

Red Whistle, an anti-corruption specialist organization, analyzed and announced the results of the integrity assessment conducted last month. While the overall integrity score was higher than that of other institutions, the organization pointed out the need for improvement in areas related to favoritism and abuse of power.

Based on the discussions held that day, the city plans to implement department-specific action items centered on four strategies: strengthening integrity leadership among senior officials, enhancing internal integrity through capacity building, spreading a communication-centered culture of integrity, and establishing infrastructure to prevent misconduct among public officials in advance.

Mayor Oh Sehyun emphasized, "Integrity is key to organizational trust," and urged senior officials to take the lead in establishing a culture of integrity.
