Kim Expresses Intent to Resign by End of This Month
The Presidential Security Service announced on the 25th that Deputy Head of Security Sunghoon Kim and Head of the Security Headquarters Kwangwoo Lee have been ordered to stand by as of the 28th.
In a press release on the same day, the Presidential Security Service stated, "Ahn Kyungho, Acting Chief of the Presidential Security Service and Director of Planning and Management, has ordered Deputy Head Kim and Headquarters Chief Lee to stand by as of the 28th."
The two are under police investigation on charges of leading the obstruction of the execution of an arrest warrant for former President Yoon Suk-yeol and ordering the deletion of secure phone communication records from the presidential office (obstruction of special official duties and abuse of authority under the Presidential Security Act).
Director Ahn has been serving as Acting Chief of the Presidential Security Service since the 21st.
Recently, employees of the Security Service circulated a petition demanding the resignation of Deputy Head Kim and Headquarters Chief Lee. At a staff meeting convened on the 15th, Deputy Head Kim indicated his intention to resign by the end of this month.
