A driver who ran over and killed a worker while reversing an aerial work platform at a shipyard has been booked by the police.
According to the Tongyeong Police Station in South Gyeongsang Province on April 25, at around 8:35 a.m. the previous day, a 4.5-ton crane aerial work platform was reversing at a shipyard in Gwangdo-myeon, Tongyeong, South Gyeongsang Province, when it struck a worker who was walking behind it.
As a result of the accident, a man in his 60s, identified as Mr. A, who was an employee of a subcontractor at the shipyard, was taken to the hospital immediately after the incident but ultimately died.
At the time, the driver, a man in his 20s also identified as Mr. A, was neither under the influence of alcohol nor driving without a license. He was reportedly preparing to remove ceiling fixtures inside the shipyard using the aerial work platform.
During the police investigation, he stated that he did not see Mr. B in the rearview mirrors at the time of the accident.
The police have booked Mr. B and are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
