The Seoul Gangseo District Dental Association began its "Free Dental Treatment Service for People with Disabilities" in September 2011, driven by the voluntary participation of its members. Over the past 14 years, 320 members have participated, providing dental care to approximately 2,500 people with disabilities.

Co-recipient Lee Hwajun has been visiting Jeonju Eunhwa School, a special school for students with disabilities, every Friday since 2000 to provide free dental treatment. He has also contributed to medical volunteer work in countries such as India, Nepal, Mongolia, and Cambodia, and has been recognized for raising the profile of Korean dental professionals in volunteer service.

The Yoon Kwangyeol Dental Medical Service Award was jointly established in 2012 by the Buchae Pyo Gasong Foundation and the Korean Dental Association, marking its 14th year in 2025. The award honors individuals or organizations who have dedicated themselves to improving the nation's oral health. This year's award ceremony is scheduled to take place on April 26 during the Korean Dental Association's regular general assembly.

The Buchae Pyo Gasong Foundation was established in 2008 with private contributions from Yoon Kwangyeol, Chairman of Dongwha Pharm, and Kim Sunnyeo, under the philosophy that "corporate profits should be returned to society." The foundation supports academic research by establishing awards such as the Yoon Kwangyeol Dental Medical Service Award, the Yoon Kwangyeol Medical Award, the Yoon Kwangyeol Medical Contribution Award, the Yoon Kwangyeol Pharmaceutical Award, and the Yoon Kwangyeol Pharmaceutical Contribution Award. It also provides scholarships to university students who excel academically but face financial difficulties.
