The Constitutional Court's ruling that "President Yoon Suk-yeol is removed from office" has been produced as a short animation.
According to Gwangju City on April 25, the Constitutional Court's impeachment ruling against former President Yoon Suk-yeol, delivered on March 4, has been turned into a short animation using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
The city is promoting a "Democratic Citizenship Education Project" to foster democratic awareness and participation among citizens, based on the ordinance for democratic citizenship education. In 2023, the city launched the "Gwangju City Democratic Citizenship Education" YouTube channel, enabling all citizens to develop their democratic citizenship competencies without restrictions of time or place.
This newly produced animation visualizes complex legal content to enhance public understanding and vividly conveys a significant moment in constitutional history. By combining the actual reading of the ruling with AI technology, the animation summarizes the key issues of the Constitutional Court's impeachment decision, making them easy for anyone to understand.
The animation summarizes topics such as the illegality of declaring martial law, controversies over the deployment of martial law troops and police within the National Assembly, the constitutionality of the National Election Commission search and seizure, procedural flaws in the impeachment bill, and the Constitutional Court's grounds for its judgment.
Previously, the city produced a short-form video series on democratic citizenship education under the theme "Martial Law and the Constitution." The first episode introduces constitutional protection systems in advanced countries, while the second compares and analyzes the similarities between the May 17 Martial Law and the December 3, 2024 Martial Law, reflecting on the meaning of democracy. All content is available on the "Gwangju City Democratic Citizenship Education" YouTube channel.
Park Yongsoo, Director of the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Peace, stated, "We produced this animation of the Constitutional Court's ruling to share the value of democracy that citizens have protected," adding, "We will continue to expand citizen communication and participatory education to promote the development of democracy and constitutional awareness among citizens."
