The previous day, the 'Airport Security Unit Indoor Shooting Range Opening Ceremony' was held at the Airport Security Unit Headquarters near Incheon Airport. Attendees including Lee Hakjae, President of Incheon International Airport Corporation, and Kim Wontae, Chief of Incheon International Airport Police Unit, celebrated the opening of the indoor shooting range.

Airport Security Unit officers are required by law to undergo regular shooting training. However, due to the lack of a dedicated shooting range, they have faced difficulties, such as having to borrow shooting ranges from nearby military units. In response, since 2023, the corporation has been working to establish a dedicated indoor shooting range for the Airport Security Unit, enabling stable year-round training.

The new indoor shooting range has been created as an optimal training space equipped with the latest facilities, including an electronic target system, high-efficiency soundproofing and ventilation equipment, and safety devices. It enables training with pistols and rifles, as well as state-of-the-art simulation training.

This facility is the first indoor shooting range in Korea dedicated to special security personnel. It will be primarily used for the regular shooting training conducted twice a year by approximately 1,700 Incheon Airport Security Unit officers. In the future, various programs will be introduced, including special situation simulation training using simulation programs and training courses for new personnel.

Lee Hakjae stated, "By providing a stable training space for Airport Security Unit officers, we expect Incheon Airport's aviation security response capabilities to become even stronger." He added, "We will continue to strengthen security education and training in cooperation with related organizations and expand relevant infrastructure to further reinforce the aviation security response system at Incheon Airport, the nation's gateway."
