Seoul National University Professor Byungchul Kang Receives Minister of Science and ICT Commendation

Seoul National University announced on April 26 that Professor Byungchul Kang of the Department of Agricultural Biology Resources has received the Minister’s Commendation for Outstanding Contribution to National Development Performance Evaluation in the category of national research and development (R&D) system improvement.

Professor Kang, during his tenure as Director of Research Affairs, proposed various measures such as improving the treatment of graduate students in science and engineering, creating a stable academic environment, and addressing the shortcomings of the indirect cost system. He is also recognized for establishing a convergence research platform within the university to lay the foundation for national R&D, and for contributing to the improvement of research environments for technology hegemony competition and strategic technology development.

A Seoul National University representative stated, “This award is a result of Professor Kang’s ongoing dedication to creating researcher-friendly institutional improvements and advancing the academic ecosystem.
