Gwangju Science Museum Successfully Concludes Science Exploration Camp in Nature

From Haenam Fossil Exploration to Astronomy Education
An Integrated Science Experience for Families

The National Gwangju Science Museum announced on April 25 that it recently held the '2nd Science Exploration Camp' with great success. This camp was an experiential program that combined dinosaur fossil exploration and astronomy education in nature, offering participating families a unique scientific learning opportunity.

Gwangju Science Museum Successfully Concludes Science Exploration Camp in Nature Participants of the Gwangju Science Museum's 'Science Exploration Camp' are listening to an explanation about footprint fossils at the Haenam Dinosaur Museum.

After receiving theoretical education about dinosaur and bird footprint fossils, participants visited the Haenam Dinosaur Museum and fossil sites together with a dinosaur expert. Through hands-on activities observing and classifying various footprint fossils on site, they broadened their understanding of Mesozoic life forms, and also took part in activities to estimate the size of dinosaurs.

After the exploration, the program continued with astronomy experiences, including listening to explanations about constellations at the planetarium and touring the Starlight Observatory's 1.2-meter large telescope.

One participating parent shared, "This program, combined with a trip to Gwangju, was a meaningful learning experience for both my child and myself."

Jang Sungjae, a researcher at the Science Education Office, said, "We will continue to develop programs that combine scientific experiences with local exploration."

For inquiries about the program, please contact the Science Education Office at the Gwangju Science Museum. Reservations can be made through the official website.
