Gumi to Host 103rd Children's Day Celebration... Fun for the Whole Family

This year's event, themed "Come and Play, It's Fun in Gumi," is designed to inspire dreams and hope in children as the next generation, and to provide opportunities for families to enjoy leisure activities together.

The festivities will begin at 10 a.m. with a celebratory performance, followed by the official commemorative ceremony and stage performances. A child emcee, selected through a public audition, will participate in the ceremony, drawing attention from attendees.

◆ Expanded Child-Centered Content: Over 50 Experience Booths

Performances tailored to children, such as the Cheonmu Cheerleading Team, bubble magic show, children's jump rope and taekwondo demonstrations, character dance, and big balloon show, are scheduled. Themed play zones, including a water cooling zone, fountain zone, bubble playground, and photo zone, will also be set up.

In particular, more than 50 experience and promotional booths will be operated in collaboration with local police stations, fire stations, universities, and public institutions. A variety of programs will be offered, including drone piloting, unmanned water truck rides, 3D pen experiences, and safety education.

Through this event, the city of Gumi aims to strengthen participatory content that fosters children's creativity and autonomy, and to contribute to the formation of a community culture through cooperation with local organizations.

◆ Regional Coexistence Program 'Simkung Gift Exhibition' Also Planned

The 'Simkung Gift Exhibition,' operated with the participation of local businesses and commercial districts, is also drawing attention. This program will serve as a marketing opportunity to promote local products and stores, with plans to overcome the geographical limitations of the event venue and revitalize the local economy.

◆ Abundant Family Month-Linked Events

Starting with Children's Day, Gumi will host a variety of family-oriented events throughout the city during the month of May. Notable events include the 'Sweet Romantic Night Market,' 'Pinkfong Concert,' 'Ecoland Children's Forest Experience Exhibition,' 'Asian Athletics Championships,' and 'Asian Food Festa.'

The city regularly announces schedules and information related to these events on its website each month through the 'Gumi Noljaem Calendar.'

◆ Aiming to Build a Happy, Child-Friendly City... Thorough Safety Management

On the day of the event, the city will operate a general situation room, a lost child center, and a medical booth. The city also plans to prevent accidents by providing event insurance and deploying safety personnel. Around 120 volunteers will help maintain order and assist with traffic guidance on site.

Gumi Mayor Kim Jangho stated, "In this era of low birth rates, the happiness of our children is the future of the region," adding, "We will focus our administrative efforts on creating a child-friendly city where all families can be happy."
