The "Hope Windmill Partnered Household Support Project" is a joint initiative by Korea Zinc, the Community Chest of Korea (Love Fruit), and the Korean Red Cross. The total annual project budget amounts to 700 million won, funded by donations from Korea Zinc to the Community Chest of Korea. Last year, Korea Zinc donated 3 billion won to the Community Chest of Korea, with a portion specifically designated for the Korean Red Cross.
This year's project supports 25,279 households nationwide, including Red Cross partner households and vulnerable groups. In addition to the existing 20,000 Hope Windmill partner households, approximately 5,000 additional vulnerable households received support. The project also contributed to strengthening the local social welfare network by identifying vulnerable groups in welfare blind spots with the cooperation of administrative welfare centers.
Red Cross volunteers delivered support supplies directly to vulnerable households across the country?including the elderly, children and youth, migrants, and other families in crisis?between April 7 and April 24. The support packages consisted of meal kits including instant rice, ramen, beef bone soup, seaweed soup, pressed ham, canned tuna, and seasoned seaweed.
A representative from Korea Zinc stated, "We hope that the warmth we have delivered to our vulnerable neighbors for 14 years will provide practical help in overcoming their economic hardships and emotional isolation," adding, "Korea Zinc will continue to take the lead in sharing warmth with the local community in cooperation with the Community Chest of Korea, the Korean Red Cross, and others."
