Special Crime Prevention Activities
to Strengthen Public Safety During the Spring Outing Season
On April 24, the Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency held a crime prevention and response strategy meeting in the conference room on the fifth floor of the agency, presided over by Commissioner Oh Bumyeong.
The meeting was attended by department heads of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency and police station chiefs, who discussed a variety of crime prevention and response measures aimed at strengthening public safety during the spring season.
In particular, the Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency has designated the period from April 28 to June 8 as a special crime prevention activity period, during which it will intensively carry out public safety activities that residents can tangibly experience.
Accordingly, the agency plans to strengthen preventive activities by deploying mobile patrol units, local police, police mobile squads, and traffic police to crime-prone areas such as festival venues and large gatherings, as well as to habitual drunk driving zones and election campaign sites.
During the meeting, participants also discussed measures for preventing crime in areas affected by wildfires, inspecting crime- and accident-prone locations such as spring festival and event venues, preventing crimes against socially vulnerable groups, preventing traffic accidents involving the elderly and providing safety education, and intensifying crackdowns on livelihood-related crimes such as burglary, drug offenses, and voice phishing.
Oh Bumyeong, Commissioner of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency, emphasized, "Spring is a period when the region sees many festivals and holidays, leading to increased outdoor activities and heightened vulnerability to various crimes and accidents. We will proactively focus the capabilities of the police to create a safer Gyeongbuk where residents can live with peace of mind."
