Seven Players Including Sung Yujin Share Fourth Place, Bang Shinsil in 11th

Hanjin Sun has laid the groundwork for her third career victory.

On April 24, at Kingsdale Golf Club in Chungju, North Chungcheong Province (par 72, 6,725 yards), Hanjin Sun shot a 3-under-par 69 in the first round of the newly established Deoksin EPC Championship on the KLPGA Tour, which has a total prize fund of 1 billion won, to take her place at the top of the leaderboard. She shares the lead with Jung Soi and Hong Jinyoung, both of whom are seeking their first career wins.

Hanjin Sun recorded six birdies and three bogeys. Starting on the 10th hole (par 4), she picked up four birdies on holes 11, 14, 15, and 18, gaining strong momentum. However, on the back nine, she made two birdies but also three bogeys, losing one stroke. Hanjin Sun said, "On the in-course, where the view is open, I was able to play comfortably and post a good score," and added, "The out-course is a bit longer and the pin positions are tricky, which led to some mistakes." She continued, "On the back nine, there were holes with a tailwind while hitting long irons, which made it difficult to attack the pins. I tried to play safely."

Lee Dongeun, Lee Seungyeon, Lee Chaeun, Yoon Sunjung, Sung Yujin, Choi Gabin, and Son Yebin are tied for fourth at 2-under-par 70, one shot behind the leaders. Last week's Nexen-Saintnine Masters champion, the "long hitter queen" Bang Shinsil, is tied for 11th at 1-under-par 71. Last season's co-leader in wins, Ma Dasom, withdrew due to severe neck stiffness.
