According to the Gwangju Police Agency on April 24, this crackdown will focus on major illegal activities such as overloading, failure to comply with cargo securing regulations, illegal installation of pan springs, and dismantling of speed limiters. In particular, overnight parking outside designated garages and unregistered for-profit transportation by non-commercial vehicles will also be targeted.

The Gwangju Police Agency plans to provide safety education for cargo truck drivers in cooperation with the Traffic Culture Training Institute and to improve road environments around industrial complexes.

A representative of the Gwangju Police Agency emphasized, "Cargo truck accidents have a high potential to result in major casualties," and added, "Above all, it is crucial for drivers to voluntarily maintain a strong sense of safety awareness."

Meanwhile, the proportion of cargo trucks in fatal traffic accidents in the Gwangju area was recorded at 14% in 2022, 14.8% in 2023, and remains high at 12.5% this year.
