On April 24, during the 2025 Q1 earnings conference call, Hyundai Motor stated, "To respond to tariffs, we have maintained North American finished vehicle inventory at 3.1 months as of the end of March," adding, "We are keeping parts inventory for an even longer period, so a certain portion of the tariffs can be offset by stockpiling parts."
Regarding the preemptive measures taken to address tariffs, the company said, "We are shifting production of the Tucson, which was previously manufactured at the Kia Mexico plant, to the Alabama plant, and we are producing vehicles for the Canadian market, which were previously made at the Alabama plant, at the Mexico plant instead."
Additionally, the company added, "For vehicles produced in Korea for export to the United States, we are continuously reviewing whether there are volumes that can be relocated to prioritize profitability, assuming that our market share is maintained."
