DYD announced on April 24 that, following its separation from Sambu Construction and the full-scale launch of its bio business, it has signed an additional memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Yeoncheon County.
On April 23, the company signed a business agreement with Yeoncheon County and Kosabio to localize European elderberry crops. This agreement aims to promote the joint development of the green bio industry.
Elderberry is a crop known for its various benefits, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and blood sugar regulation effects, so much so that the ancient Hippocrates referred to it as the "miracle fruit." DYD and Kosabio have completed pharmacological research and clinical trials on elderberry.
Yeoncheon County expects that specializing in elderberry will contribute to increasing the income of local farmers. DYD plans to work with Kosabio to localize functional products by securing a stable supply of raw materials.
Earlier this year, DYD completed a management reshuffle, fully separating from Sambu Construction both legally and in terms of accounting. Afterward, the company wound down its construction business, recruited bio industry experts to its management team, and established a dedicated bio division. Currently, DYD is preparing to establish a branch in the United States and seeking FDA approval for a saliva-based glycated albumin diagnostic kit. The company has also signed an agreement with Gangwon Province to build a bio-semiconductor ecosystem.
Regarding the latest MOU, a company representative stated, "We are accelerating research, development, and commercialization of our bio business, focusing on highly functional new raw materials such as elderberry, which are not yet widely known. In addition to pursuing mutual growth with local farmers, we will also implement localization strategies targeting both domestic and international markets."
