Full-scale Efforts to Strengthen the Domestic Gas Turbine Supply Chain
Aiming to Respond to Growing Global Demand
Doosan Enerbility is partnering with HD Hyundai Marine Engine to develop precision casting manufacturing technology for gas turbines. Through this initiative, Doosan Enerbility aims to strengthen the domestic supply chain for gas turbines.
On April 24, Doosan Enerbility announced that it had signed a "Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the Development of Precision Casting Manufacturing Technology for Gas Turbines and Prototype Production of Blade Materials" with HD Hyundai Marine Engine at its headquarters in Changwon, Gyeongnam. The signing ceremony was attended by Seungwoo Son, Head of Power Service Business Group at Doosan Enerbility, Young Kang, CEO of HD Hyundai Marine Engine, and other officials from both companies. In a gas turbine, a blade is a wing-shaped component that accelerates the flow of high-temperature, high-pressure gas to induce the rotation of the turbine shaft.

Under the MOU, Doosan Enerbility will be responsible for the design and quality evaluation of turbine blades for gas turbines, while HD Hyundai Marine Engine will handle the production of precision casting materials for the blades. In particular, Doosan Enerbility stated that, through this prototype production agreement, it intends to increase the proportion of gas turbine parts procured from domestic suppliers. This is a proactive measure to respond to growing global market demand. Doosan Enerbility projects that the global gas turbine market, which was valued at $18.7 billion (approximately 26 trillion KRW) last year, will expand to $22.7 billion by 2031.
Son stated, "Strengthening the domestic gas turbine supply chain is essential to meet the rapidly increasing global demand for gas turbines," and added, "We will expand the domestic gas turbine supply chain based on the technology and expertise we have accumulated in the power generation gas turbine business."
