Forest Sports Festival in June and National Mountain Bike Competition in October Planned
Wonju City, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Mayor Kang-Soo Won), announced on April 24 that the Wonju Mountain Bike Park, located in Sillim-myeon, Wonju, will reopen for the season after its winter closure and begin operations starting April 26.
The park offers a total of 47 kilometers of courses, including six downhill courses, three cross-country courses, and an indoor mountain bike experience facility.
The courses are designed with varying levels of difficulty for both cross-country and downhill riding. Practice facilities such as a pump track, a beginner pump track, and an indoor bike experience center are available, along with amenities including a bike wash station and showers, making the park convenient for users.
Additionally, the indoor mountain bike experience facility and beginner practice courses make it easy for citizens new to mountain biking to get started with forest leisure sports. To promote and expand the base of forest leisure activities, Wonju Mountain Bike Park operates mountain bike education and experience programs for citizens and visitors on a reservation basis.
In June this year, the park plans to host the Forest Sports Festival, an event for families to enjoy together. In October, a national mountain bike competition will be held, with participation from cycling enthusiasts and athletes from across the country.
Mayor Kang-Soo Won stated, "We will create an environment where everyone can enjoy forest leisure sports by offering a variety of programs, including mountain bike education, the Forest Sports Festival, and the Wonju Mayor's Cup National Mountain Bike Competition. We look forward to the active participation of those interested in forest culture and mountain biking."
