Average Daily Securities Settlement Amount Reaches 27 Trillion Won in Q1, Up 10% from Previous Quarter

In the first quarter of this year, the average daily securities settlement amount processed through the Korea Securities Depository reached 27.2 trillion won, marking a 10% increase compared to the previous quarter. This figure also represents a 17.7% rise from the same period last year (approximately 23.1 trillion won).


On April 24, the Korea Securities Depository released the "Securities Settlement Amounts for the First Quarter of 2025," reporting these results. By type, stock settlement amounted to approximately 1.87 trillion won, a 1.1% decrease from the previous quarter (1.89 trillion won) and a 7% decrease compared to the same period last year (2.01 trillion won). Bond settlement reached 25.3 trillion won, up 10.9% from the previous quarter (22.9 trillion won) and up 20.1% compared to the same period last year (21.1 trillion won).


During the same period, the average daily settlement amount in the on-exchange stock market was 850 billion won, a 0.7% increase from the previous quarter. Trading volume reached 22.6 trillion won, up 13.4% from the previous quarter (19.9 trillion won). The average daily settlement amount in the on-exchange bond market was 2.67 trillion won, a 19.9% increase from the previous quarter (2.23 trillion won). Trading volume was 7.24 trillion won, up 2.5% from the previous quarter (7.07 trillion won).


The average daily settlement amount for bond institutional investors was found to be 22.7 trillion won, a 9.9% increase from the previous quarter (20.6 trillion won). By bond type, government bonds accounted for the largest share at 6.78 trillion won, followed by financial bonds (3.75 trillion won) and monetary stabilization bonds (1.11 trillion won).
