Walking Tours of Yeongdeungpo's Historic Sites and Attractions with Expert Interpretation

Yeongdeungpo District (District Mayor Choi Hokwon) announced that it will operate a "Walking Tour Interpretation Program," which allows participants to explore the district's attractions on foot together with professional tour guides.

The "Walking Tour Interpretation" program connects Yeongdeungpo's major attractions under various themes, such as history, culture, and natural ecology. Participants walk alongside a tour guide and experience the stories and hidden charms of the area. The program has been running since 2020 and has consistently received positive feedback from visitors.

There are a total of seven walking tour routes available: the area around Yeongdeungpo Station, which traces the traces of Yeongdeungpo's modern and contemporary history; Mullae Creative Village, known for its artistic atmosphere; Yeouido, where the city and nature blend together; the Hangang Waterway, which captures the changes of the Han River and its islands; Seonyudo Park, where the river breeze brings a sense of relaxation; and the Anyangcheon and Dorimcheon Waterway courses, which showcase diverse ecological environments. Each course is approximately 3 kilometers long.

The program is held every Saturday and Sunday at 10:00 a.m., and anyone can participate free of charge by registering in advance. Up to 10 people can register per session, with a minimum of 2 participants required for the tour to proceed. Registration is available through the "Yeongdeungpo District Integrated Reservation" website, "Dasi Yeogi Yeongdeungpo."

This year, the program has been expanded to allow participants to enjoy both the Yeouido Spring Flower Festival and the Hangang Waterway course together. In addition, annual training is provided to tour guides to enhance their skills and ensure high-quality interpretation based on the latest information. In the future, the district plans to further expand the program by collaborating with local elementary schools to offer specialized tours for students.

Choi Hokwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, stated, "The Walking Tour Interpretation Program is a great opportunity to vividly experience Yeongdeungpo's rich history and hidden charms," adding, "We will continue to develop a variety of walking tour courses to promote Yeongdeungpo more widely."
