Highly Praised for Establishing Civil Complaints Communication Team
and Building a Comprehensive Child Care System
On April 23, Chairman Seungil Jeon of the Gwangju Seo-gu Council received the Grand Prize in the "Administrative, Political, and Cultural Innovation" category at the "2025 Governance Local Politics Awards" ceremony held at the National Assembly Members' Office Building in Seoul.
The "Governance Local Politics Awards," hosted by the Governance Center, recognizes heads of local governments and local council members who have contributed to the spread of proper self-governance activities and the enhancement of local political awareness, such as strengthening the foundation for cooperation within local communities and expanding resident participation.
Chairman Jeon has continuously worked to communicate with residents, expand policy participation, establish a cooperative system with the administration, and realize innovation in local politics and local community governance.
In particular, under the slogan "The Answer Lies in Change and Innovation," he established a "Civil Complaints Communication Team" to address the administration's passive handling of civil complaints, and received high praise for leading practical, field-oriented institutional improvements, such as proposing the "Gwangju Seo-gu On-Dongne Care Council Ordinance" to build a comprehensive and systematic child care system.
Chairman Jeon stated, "I am delighted to receive this award as a result of always approaching legislative activities with a fresh perspective rather than following established conventions during my term," and emphasized, "I will continue to carry out legislative activities in the field through change and innovation, boldly improve outdated administrative practices, and establish new practices to create a Seo-gu Council that works together with the residents."
