The Industrial Construction Committee of the Hongseong County Council in South Chungcheong Province announced that it held the "Second Working-Level Meeting of Relevant Agencies for the Operation of School Buses in Hongseong County" on the morning of April 23 in the main conference hall of the county council, aiming to improve the commuting environment for students within the county.

The meeting was attended by members of the Industrial Construction Committee, including Chairperson Choi Seonkyung, as well as officials from the county's Construction and Transportation Department. They engaged in an in-depth discussion to find ways to improve the commuting environment for students.

While the participants shared positive outcomes, such as increased satisfaction among students and parents in the Gwangcheon area due to the operation of shuttle buses between Gwangcheon and Naepo during commuting hours?as indicated by a survey conducted by the Hongseong Office of Education?the county council pointed out that students at Hongseong High School and Hongju High School are still experiencing difficulties commuting to school.

In response, Hongseong High School proposed addressing the inconvenience of boarding and alighting at the Naepo Middle School stop during commuting hours and requested the establishment of an express route. Hongju High School suggested a route that would pass through major stops in Naepo and connect to Hongju High School and Hongseong Girls' High School. Seohae Samyook High School emphasized the need for a Gwangcheon-bound bus route passing near Bueong Apartments during school commuting hours.

Regarding these suggestions, the county's Transportation Administration Team stated, "We plan to develop alternatives by considering the impact of route and schedule adjustments on all users through a research study."

The county council highlighted the limitations of using existing route buses and stressed the urgent need for either increasing the number of route buses between Naepo and Hongseong during commuting hours or operating dedicated school buses. The council urged the county government to take prompt action to address the issue.

Choi Seonkyung, Chairperson of the Industrial Construction Committee, stated, "We will continue active communication and efforts among relevant agencies until we find practical solutions to resolve the commuting inconveniences faced by students."
