On the 23rd, the Daejeon city government announced that it has expanded and relocated the Daechunho Obaekri Trail Exploration Support Center, transforming it into a hub space aimed at revitalizing ecotourism and serving both local residents and tourists.
The Daechunho Obaekri Trail Exploration Support Center is a key facility that provides guidance for the Daechunho Obaekri Trail?a leading urban ecotourism destination visited by 1 million people annually?and is responsible for managing the trail.
However, the previous center, which first opened in May 2015 in the former public health center building in Chudong, Donggu, faced limitations in running various programs due to its cramped space and lack of accessibility.
The city invested 913 million won to construct a new two-story building with a total floor area of 183.62 square meters. The newly built Exploration Support Center is equipped with a counseling room, reading room, office, multipurpose room, and other functional spaces. It has also obtained preliminary certification for a Barrier-Free (BF) environment, ensuring convenient access for everyone.
Lee Jangwoo, mayor of Daejeon, stated, "We will use the Exploration Support Center as a hub to organically connect the Daechunho Obaekri Trail with nearby tourist resources, and develop it into a renowned ecotourism destination through various policies, including ecotourism programs."
