Establishment of Convenience Facilities and Operation of Educational and Experiential Programs
Incheon International Airport Corporation announced on the 23rd that it had signed a 'Sammok Ancient Ship Site Utilization Project Memorandum of Understanding' with Jung-gu District Office of Incheon in the corporation's executive meeting room on the afternoon of the 22nd.

The signing ceremony was attended by Lee Hakjae, President of the corporation, Kim Junghun, Mayor of Jung-gu, and about 10 other officials.
Based on this agreement, the two organizations plan to establish convenience facilities to promote the use of the Sammok Ancient Ship Site Park and to operate educational and experiential programs related to the prehistoric site.
Specifically, the corporation will construct one convenience facility building by the end of this year, which will include an educational space for 30 people, a waiting area for cultural heritage interpreters, and restrooms. The Jung-gu District Office will operate educational and experiential programs about the site.
The Sammok Ancient Ship Site is the largest Neolithic residential site (with 17 dwellings) in the West Sea island region and has been designated as Incheon City Monument No. 55. It holds historical value for advancing research on livelihoods and residential styles through settlements in island regions.
The corporation restored three archaeological remains after excavating the prehistoric residential site within the phase two airport logistics complex site in 2003. In 2012, it established the 45,000-square-meter 'Sammok Ancient Ship Site Park' to allow visitors to experience the historical value of the prehistoric site.
President Lee Hakjae stated, "We hope that this agreement will encourage more visits to the Sammok Ancient Ship Site Park, which has significant historical value within the airport premises, and bring cultural vitality to the local community."
