SKT to Notify All Customers About "USIM Protection Service" Following Hacking Incident

Sequential Notification Messages Sent to All Customers Regarding Service Enrollment

SKT to Notify All Customers About "USIM Protection Service" Following Hacking Incident

SK Telecom announced on April 23 that, in response to the recent hacking incident, it will actively promote free enrollment in its "USIM Protection Service" as a measure to alleviate customer concerns. The company plans to send service-related notification messages sequentially to all customers.

According to SKT, around 11:00 p.m. on April 19, malicious code was implanted in its internal system, resulting in the leakage of some customers' USIM information. The company stated that it immediately removed the malicious code and isolated the affected systems upon discovery, and is currently investigating the exact cause and scope of the breach in cooperation with relevant authorities.

SKT explained, "No cases of the leaked information being misused have been identified so far," but added, "We strongly recommend enrolling in the USIM Protection Service as a preemptive measure to ensure customer peace of mind."

The USIM Protection Service is designed to completely block third parties from illegally duplicating or stealing a customer's USIM information to access telecommunications services on other devices. Customers can easily enroll for free through T World.

The notification messages will be sent sequentially to all SKT mobile subscribers. The messages will also include a video explaining the service's features and how to enroll.
