Jeollanam-do is actively engaging in policy proposal activities and strengthening cooperation with the National Assembly and political parties to ensure that key regional issues are reflected in the pledges of each party and presidential candidate ahead of the early presidential election.
On the 23rd, Jeollanam-do Governor Kim Youngrok visited the National Assembly and met with key figures involved in the presidential campaign pledges of political parties, including lawmakers Yoon Hoeduk (Head of Policy Headquarters) and Kim Youngjin (Head of Political Strategy Headquarters), as well as Yoo Jongil, Co-Chair of Growth and Integration. Governor Kim explained the major issues and development strategies that Jeollanam-do is currently focusing on and requested that they be incorporated into the presidential campaign pledges.
At the meeting, Governor Kim introduced core projects linked to future industries such as AI, space, and energy, including the establishment of a national medical school in Jeonnam. He emphasized the need for policy design that fully reflects the realities of Jeonnam from the perspective of balanced regional development.
The main proposals include: ▲ Promotion of a mega project for the transformation of the petrochemical and steel industries ▲ Creation of the Solaseado AI Energy New City ▲ Establishment of an AI advanced agri-livestock convergence district ▲ Formation of a space launch vehicle industry convergence cluster ▲ Development of Muan International Airport into a leading gateway airport in Northeast Asia.
In addition, Yoon Jin-ho, Director General for Planning and Coordination of Jeollanam-do, met with lawmakers such as Jeong Jinwook, Chief Secretary to Park Chan-dae, Floor Leader of the Democratic Party, and actively requested that Jeonnam's key projects in the areas of livelihood and disaster relief be additionally included in the government's supplementary budget proposal currently under review in the National Assembly, in order to revitalize the stagnant regional economy.
To carry out more strategic pledge proposal activities, Jeollanam-do has decided to form and operate a "Presidential Election Pledge Response Task Force (TF)." The TF, headed by Vice Governor for Economic Affairs Park Changhwan and composed of 15 department heads, is organized into five policy divisions: ▲ New Growth Engines ▲ Core SOC ▲ Future Agriculture and Fisheries ▲ Tourism, Culture, and Leisure ▲ Population and Welfare.
Going forward, Jeollanam-do plans to proactively prepare for the launch of the new government by not only working to have its proposals reflected in campaign pledges during the election period, but also by establishing implementation plans and detailed action strategies for each pledge after the presidential election.
