The police have launched a preliminary investigation (an inquiry prior to formal charges) into allegations of sexual harassment and sexual assault among students during a department MT (Membership Training, a team-building retreat) at Chosun University.

On April 23, Gwangju Dongbu Police Station announced that they are conducting a preliminary investigation into suspicions of sexual crimes among students during a department MT at Chosun University.

Previously, on the anonymous university community Everytime, a post claimed that incidents of sexual harassment and sexual assault occurred among students during an MT held at a resort in Naju, Jeollanam-do, for three days starting on March 31.

There were also allegations that freshmen were forced to participate in so-called "love shots," where students encourage each other to drink alcohol by linking arms or touching body parts, as well as claims of inappropriate language and physical contact.

Afterwards, the student council of the relevant college posted an official apology, but as the issue gained public attention through media reports, the police also began their investigation.
