Paju City launches digitization of factory permit records
Aims to preserve 10,000 volumes and 200,000 pages accumulated since 1980
Paju City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Kyungil) announced on April 23 that it has officially begun the digitization of factory establishment permit data this month, aiming to digitally transform the related documentation. This digitization project was launched to safely preserve approximately 10,000 volumes and 200,000 pages of paper documents accumulated since 1980, and to improve the quality of civil service.

The factory establishment digitization project involves converting paper-based permit records into digital data to build a database (DB), and developing a dedicated program for efficient management of this data.
The main targets for digitization include factory establishment applications, business plans, and related drawings. These documents will be scanned and stored in a digital database, and the system is designed to enable accurate document management, civil service searches, and the generation of statistical data based on the digitized materials.
By replacing the existing paper-based permit management ledger, the project is expected to enable more accurate and efficient administrative processing. Citizens will also benefit from faster and more systematic permit services. In particular, the city expects to save approximately 1.9 billion KRW in budget by carrying out most aspects of the project internally, except for the development of the dedicated program.
Lim Saewoong, head of the Permit Management Division, stated, "The digitization of factory permit administration goes beyond simply improving civil services; it serves as an important milestone in the digital transformation of Paju City's administration. We will safely and systematically manage decades-old paper records and provide permit administration services that citizens can truly experience."
