Previously, in April 2024, when Gwangju City was confirmed as the host of the 2026-2027 Gyeonggi Province Comprehensive Sports Games, it secured 6.8 billion won in special adjustment grants and 500 million won in special grants. Subsequently, the city obtained an additional 5.3 billion won in provincial funds for stadium renovations and 3.1 billion won in special adjustment grants. With the latest selection for this support project, the city has secured a total budget of 17.7 billion won, accelerating preparations for the event.

To be selected for this project, the city promptly carried out administrative procedures for project implementation immediately after submitting the application in March and concentrated administrative efforts by visiting the Gyeonggi Provincial Government in person to propose and explain the project.

Going forward, Gwangju City plans to continue securing additional funding to minimize the financial burden and will fully launch efforts to improve infrastructure and establish operational plans for the successful hosting of the event.

A Gwangju City official stated, "Through the selection for this support project, we have secured a total budget of 17.7 billion won, which is the result of both administrative and financial efforts to attract and prepare for the event," adding, "We will further accelerate stadium maintenance and various preparations during the remaining period to successfully create a festival of unity for the 14 million residents of Gyeonggi Province."
