Gradual Extension of Store Hours to 10 p.m. with Longer Daylight

Starbucks Korea is holding its "Evening Event" from April 23 to May 18. During this event, customers who order decaffeinated coffee or caffeine-free drinks included in the promotion after 5:00 p.m. each day can receive up to 50% off their beverages.

The Evening Event was planned in response to the growing demand for decaffeinated coffee and caffeine-free drinks, as more people want to enjoy coffee in the afternoon without worrying about caffeine. The event covers a total of 20 drinks, including 11 types of decaffeinated coffee and 9 types of caffeine-free beverages.

Starbucks also plans to gradually extend the operating hours of some stores to 10:00 p.m., reflecting changes in lifestyle such as longer daylight hours and the increasing number of people who have dinner, pursue self-development, or spend leisure time in cafes. This aims to provide customers with a more convenient store experience.

In addition to discounts on individual drinks, there will also be set discount promotions. If customers purchase an event drink together with a cake, they will receive a 50% discount on the beverage.

According to Starbucks, 32.7 million cups of decaffeinated drinks were sold last year, setting a new all-time annual sales record. In the first quarter of this year, 9.8 million cups were sold, up 31% compared to the same period last year. Currently, one out of every ten cups of Starbucks' most popular drink, the Americano, is decaffeinated.

As drinks with reduced caffeine have gained popularity, the sales ranking of beverages has also changed. In the first quarter of this year, the top 10 best-selling regular menu drinks included not only the previously popular "Decaffeinated Americano" and "Yuja Mint Tea," but also the newly added "Decaffeinated Cafe Latte." In addition, the newly launched caffeine-free promotional drinks "Yuja & Orange Energy Physio" and "Cherry & Plum Energy Physio," released this month, sold more than 500,000 cups within less than a week of their launch.
