On this day at 10:30 a.m., Lee Jeongjae, the presiding judge in charge of warrants at the Seoul Central District Court, will hold a pretrial detention hearing for Lee, who is suspected of violating the Narcotics Control Act by using and possessing cannabis.
Lee was apprehended by police in October of last year on suspicion of attempting, but failing, to retrieve liquid cannabis hidden in a flower bed in a residential area of Seocho-gu, Seoul, using the so-called "throwing" method.
Previously, after receiving the National Forensic Service's analysis indicating a positive result for cannabis in Lee's hair, the police applied for a detention warrant on the 18th.
Lee's wife, who was also identified as an accomplice and booked as a suspect, was not subject to a detention warrant request.
It has been reported that Lee was previously referred to the prosecution on cannabis-related charges, but was not indicted at that time.
