Polaris Office is expanding its business beyond the global office software market into the note-taking app sector.

On April 23, Polaris Office announced that it would be participating in 'Japan IT Week Spring 2025,' held in Tokyo, Japan until April 25, and would be unveiling a pilot version of its handwriting application, 'Polanotes,' which is similar to GoodNotes.

'Japan IT Week Spring 2025' is Japan's largest IT and digital transformation (DX) exhibition, attracting over 1,800 global companies and more than 100,000 industry professionals every year. The event covers the latest trends in various technology fields, including software, information security, cloud, and data centers, and serves as a strategic platform for companies seeking to enter the global market.

Through this exhibition, Polaris Office plans to leverage its strengths as a document software specialist by launching the note-taking app Polanotes in Japan. The app is integrated with the blockchain 'Polaris Share (POLA),' operated by its affiliate Polaris Share Tech, as part of its strategy to expand as a global brand.

Polanotes is a cross-platform app that supports all major operating systems, including iOS, Mac, Android, and Windows, offering flexible usability regardless of device or environment.

Users can write directly on various documents such as Word, Excel, PPT, and PDF files. The app provides an optimized user experience for collecting and organizing materials through features like multi-view and automatic thumbnail generation. It also includes editing functions that enhance content quality, such as shape insertion and table creation.

In particular, Polaris Share Tech, an affiliate, plans to increase user retention and expand the coin ecosystem by providing rewards for Polanotes usage activities through the knowledge-sharing blockchain platform token 'Polaris Share (POLA).'

Additionally, Polaris Office will gradually apply artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, already embedded in its existing office apps, to Polanotes. Through AI-based productivity features such as image editing, document summarization, voice recognition-based handwriting conversion, and multilingual translation, the company aims to significantly enhance users' recording efficiency and content utilization.

The Polanotes version unveiled at this exhibition is a pilot service prior to official release and is currently available on a limited basis in the Japanese market. Polaris Office plans to directly observe local user reactions and improve product completeness based on feedback, in preparation for a future global official launch.

A Polaris Office representative stated, "Polanotes differentiates itself from existing handwriting apps by adding new value to the act of everyday record-keeping. The synergy between our document engine technology, which supports various file formats, and blockchain integration will be a key strength across our group companies."

Currently, Polaris Office is a global office solution provider with 134 million users worldwide. The company has secured global competitiveness through its cloud-based technology and ongoing product advancement. Recently, it has expanded its market presence by introducing a variety of business solutions that incorporate AI and collaboration features, keeping pace with changes in the digital environment.

Meanwhile, according to market research firm Global Growth Insights, the global note-taking app market was valued at $815.4 million in 2023, is estimated at $994.9 million in 2024, and is projected to reach $4.89 billion by 2032, reflecting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 22.02%.
