This job-linked training program, jointly supported by the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education and Gyeonggi Province, is a youth technical workforce development project in which the Korea Nano Technology Institute Foundation provides practical training to third-year vocational high school students in the province, and supports those who complete the program in securing employment at mid-sized and small businesses.
In particular, the program is operated in conjunction with training and recruitment at Amkor Technology Korea Co., Ltd. Students who wish to be hired apply for positions, and those who meet the criteria are given priority selection. These students are designated as "prospective hires" and will participate in the "Nano Convergence Technology Workforce Development Project" training program.
Students who complete the training program will undergo a minimum four-week industry-based field internship at the Amkor Technology Korea Co., Ltd. K5 facility in Songdo, Incheon, after which they will be formally hired as regular employees.
A representative from Amkor Technology Korea Co., Ltd. stated, "We are very much looking forward to recruiting outstanding semiconductor talent from Gyeonggi's vocational high schools through this collaboration," adding, "Hands-on practical training and recruitment-based internships will be a great opportunity to enhance students' capabilities."
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education plans to further strengthen this new vocational education model that links the cultivation and recruitment of talent needed in the semiconductor industry through this collaboration. In addition, the office intends to expand practical training and employment-linked programs that connect vocational high school students with industry through its Career and Employment Support Center.
Meanwhile, the Career and Employment Support Center of the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education held an information session on the "Nano Convergence Technology Workforce Development Project" on the 17th. The session drew strong interest, with over 200 vocational high school teachers and students from the province in attendance.
