Safe Return Routes and the Ansim-i App Draw Attention as Resident-Focused Safety Measures
Dobong District CCTV Control Center Makes Significant Contributions to Resident Safety
Dobong District (headed by Mayor Oh Eon-seok) is strengthening safety in the daily lives of its residents.
As crimes affecting everyday safety have recently emerged as a serious social issue, the district is actively working to secure residents' safety by implementing comprehensive safety measures across all areas of daily life.
The district is significantly increasing residents' perceived safety through a variety of effective initiatives.
Among these, protection programs for vulnerable groups stand out as a representative example. To prevent crime in high-risk areas, the district is operating Safe Return Routes.
Currently, a total of 10 Safe Return Routes have been established in different regions. These routes are equipped with emergency bells, solar-powered marker lights, and LED signboards to illuminate dark paths for those returning home at night.
Additionally, the district operates the Ansim-i app, which allows residents to request help if they feel unsafe or threatened on their way home. The Ansim-i app provides homecoming monitoring and emergency reporting services. By linking with the Dobong District CCTV Control Center, it assists in real-time monitoring of residents' safe return home.
The Dobong District CCTV Control Center has made significant contributions to residents' safety. Last year, the center conducted 38,444 monitoring activities and provided 4,250 pieces of video footage and other materials to investigative agencies such as the police. In recognition of its outstanding achievements, the center received a total of 10 letters of appreciation and commendations from organizations including the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency and Dobong Police Station.
In addition, the district is carrying out a wide range of crime prevention initiatives. These include a device rental service to prevent illegal filming in public restrooms and the provision of safety equipment for vulnerable groups.
The illegal filming device rental service allows any resident to borrow lens detectors and electromagnetic wave detectors free of charge. To use the service, residents can apply by phone and then visit the Family Policy Division.
A district official stated, "In addition to renting out illegal filming detection devices, we are also conducting intensive inspections of public and privately accessible restrooms," and added, "We will continue to work toward creating safe public restrooms that residents can use with peace of mind."
The safety equipment support program provides Safe Home Sets to single-person households that are particularly vulnerable to crime. The Safe Home Set consists of a front door security device, a smart doorbell, or a home CCTV system. For single-person households at risk of stalking crimes, additional support such as voice-activated wireless emergency bells is provided along with the Safe Home Set. Currently, newly relocated single-person households in Dobong District are being provided with window locks.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong District, stated, "The goal of our district is to create an environment where all residents can feel safe. We will continue to protect residents' safety with practical, community-focused safety measures."
