World No. 11 Jin Young Ko is aiming to become the major queen.
On April 24 (local time), she will compete in the Chevron Championship, the first major tournament of the LPGA Tour season, held at the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course (par 72, 6,911 yards) of The Club at Carlton Woods in The Woodlands, Texas, USA. The total prize money for the event is $8 million.

This is the first of the five major championships in women's golf to take place each year. Until 2021, the tournament was known as the ANA Inspiration, but since 2022, both the venue and the name have changed. However, the tradition of the champion celebrating by jumping into the water to mark her status as the major queen continues.
Jin Young Ko is hoping for a repeat of 2019. At that time, she beat Mi Hyang Lee by three strokes and became the "lady of the lake." Last week, she finished tied for seventh at the JM Eagle LA Championship, considered a warm-up for this event. She has pledged to return to the top of this tournament for the first time in six years.
World No. 1 Nelly Korda (USA) is aiming for her second consecutive victory. For Korea, Hae Ran Ryu and Arim Kim are also dreaming of the title. Yuna Yoon, who joined the LPGA Tour this year, will make her major championship debut. Yuna Yoon is currently tied for sixth in the Rookie of the Year standings. Rio Takeda (Japan), who leads the Rookie of the Year race, and Ingrid Lindblad (Sweden), who is ranked fourth, have each already claimed a victory.
