Kolon Industries Inc. Gumi Plant 1 in North Gyeongsang Province has provided sponsorship goods worth 140 million won to support the successful hosting of the '2025 Gumi Asian Athletics Championships'.

The handover ceremony was attended by Kwon Yongcheol, head of Kolon Industries Gumi Plant 1, along with employees, as well as Yoon Sanghoon, chairman of the Gumi City Sports Association, Kim Jangho, mayor of Gumi (chairman of the tournament organizing committee), and other officials. Together, they shared updates on the tournament preparations and pledged ongoing mutual cooperation.
Kwon Yongcheol, plant manager, stated, "Sustainable growth of the region is possible when businesses and the city move forward together," and added, "I hope this sponsorship will provide practical support for the operation of the tournament."
Yoon Sanghoon, chairman of the Sports Association, responded, "I am pleased to collaborate with Kolon Industries, with whom we have built long-standing trust," and promised, "We will showcase a flawless tournament through thorough preparations in the remaining period."
Meanwhile, ahead of the main event of the 2025 Gumi Asian Athletics Championships scheduled for May, the final selection trials will be held at Gumi Citizens' Stadium from April 21 to 23.
Approximately 1,000 participants, including athletes and coaches, are expected to take part in these selection trials, where athletes with the highest level of performance will compete fiercely.
The Gumi City Sports Association plans to use the selection trials to check the overall preparation status for the tournament and address any shortcomings.
In addition to maintaining the stadium facilities, the association is also reviewing various measures to ensure the interests of the sponsoring companies.
