Recovered to 2,490 During the Session, but Gains Were Surrendered
KOSDAQ Ends Slightly Higher After Fluctuating Throughout the Day
On April 22, the KOSPI closed lower at the 2,480 level due to foreign investor selling. The KOSDAQ, after fluctuating throughout the session, ended slightly higher.

On this day, the KOSPI closed at 2,486.64, down 0.07% from the previous trading day. The index opened at 2,481.18, down 0.29% from the previous session, briefly turned positive and showed mild gains during the session, but soon gave up those gains. Foreign investors were net sellers of 242.9 billion won, while individual investors and institutions were net buyers of 166.7 billion won and 10.7 billion won, respectively.
A differentiated trend appeared among industry sectors. The metals sector recorded the largest gain, rising 2.24% compared to the previous trading day, while the securities sector also showed strength with a 1.74% increase. This was followed by food, beverage and tobacco (1.08%), insurance (1.05%), IT services (0.84%), electricity and gas (0.64%), and telecommunications (0.59%). In contrast, paper and wood (-2.52%), textiles and apparel (-1.59%), electrical and electronics (-1.03%), and real estate (-0.68%) declined.
Among large-cap stocks, Samsung Electronics (-0.72%), SK Hynix (-1.59%), LG Energy Solution (-0.15%), Hyundai Motor (-0.91%), and Kia (-1.36%) fell, while Samsung Biologics (0.28%) and Celltrion (0.13%) posted modest gains.
On the same day, the KOSDAQ closed at 716.12, up 0.09% from the previous trading day. The index started trading at 711.42, down 0.56% from the previous session, and fluctuated between gains and losses during the session, but managed to rebound before the close. Individual investors were net buyers of 32 billion won, while foreign investors were net sellers of 12.3 billion won.
By sector, transportation and storage (1.94%), paper and wood (1.62%), metals (1.60%), construction (1.58%), general services (1.26%), and transportation equipment and parts (1.04%) rose, while telecommunications (-1.89%), finance (-1.39%), non-metals (-1.33%), IT services (-0.99%), and machinery and equipment (-0.71%) declined.
Among top market cap stocks, Kolon TissueGene (7.59%) and Rigakem Bio (5.44%) saw significant gains, while Alteogen (0.65%) and Peptron (0.97%) also rose. Ecopro BM (-0.32%), Ecopro (-0.32%), Rainbow Robotics (-0.35%), Hugel (-1.55%), and Classys (-0.16%) declined.
