KB Financial Group announced on April 22 that all 11 of its subsidiaries will participate in a lights-off event for 10 minutes starting at 8:00 p.m. in celebration of Earth Day.
The group is also holding a social media event encouraging the public to join the lights-off campaign. Participants are invited to take a photo of their lights being turned off for 10 minutes in the evening, decorate it freely using 'Star Friends' character stickers, and upload it to their personal Instagram accounts. Prizes will be awarded to selected participants through a random draw.
In addition, company-wide initiatives are being implemented, such as maintaining appropriate office temperatures, turning off lights in unused areas, shutting down heating and cooling systems 30 minutes before leaving work, and designating specific days for energy-saving practices.
A KB Financial Group representative stated, "We hope this lights-off event will serve as a meaningful opportunity for us to reflect on the climate crisis and take action. Moving forward, we will continue to bring together small daily actions to create significant change and make our planet more beautiful and clean."
Meanwhile, 'Earth Day' began in 1970 and has grown into a global environmental movement with more than one billion participants annually across over 190 countries. This year, Climate Change Week is being held from April 21 to 25 under the auspices of the Ministry of Environment.
