The Gwangju Art Forum announced on April 22 that it will hold a forum to discuss the challenges arising from the relocation of the Seoul Performing Arts Company to the Asia Culture Center.

The forum will take place on April 23 at 3:00 p.m. at the Gwangju ACC Design Hotel. Participants will include Cha Duok, President of the Gwangju Filmmakers Association; Lee Byunghoon, former National Assembly member; Ji Hyungwon, publisher of Munhwathong; Yoo Heesung, former Chairman of the Seoul Performing Arts Company; and Choi Jisun, adjunct professor at Chonnam National University’s Department of Korean Traditional Music.

The forum will proceed with presentations on the main topic, followed by a panel discussion and a Q&A session with the audience. The panel discussion will be chaired by Cha Duok, President of the Gwangju Filmmakers Association, and Lee Byunghoon, former National Assembly member, will deliver the keynote presentation.

The discussion will focus on the challenges associated with the relocation of the Seoul Performing Arts Company to the Asia Culture Center. In particular, participants will explore ways to expand the Asia Culture Center’s activities into the fields of “Asian culture and the performing arts.” The forum will also seek solutions to the following issues: legal and administrative challenges, securing financial resources, and addressing challenges within the artistic ecosystem.

In addition, the forum will discuss the roles of the national government, the city of Gwangju, citizens, and the political community in turning the relocation of the Seoul Performing Arts Company into an opportunity for Gwangju to grow as an international cultural city.
