The Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Chairman Han Sangwon) announced on April 22 that it will launch a new initiative this year called the "Home Appliance Tomorrow Youth Specialized Support Project" to address the labor shortage in the local home appliance industry and promote employment stability.

This project is part of a regional and industry-specific job creation support program funded by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and Gwangju City. Its goal is to enhance the competitiveness of home appliance companies, which are a core industry in Gwangju, and to encourage young talent to settle in the region.

The program targets manufacturing companies related to the home appliance industry located in Gwangju City and young workers under the age of 39 who are employed as regular employees at these companies. The project is divided into two main areas: "Company Support" and "Youth Support."

The Company Support area consists of a "Hiring Incentive" to alleviate the labor cost burden for companies that hire young workers, a "Safety Work-Up Project" to create a safe working environment for young employees, and a "Shared Facility Improvement Project" to support the expansion of welfare and convenience facilities such as break rooms.

The Youth Support area includes a "Settlement Support Fund" to prevent early turnover among new hires and promote stable employment, as well as a "Growth Support Fund" that provides incentives to young employees who remain with home appliance companies for a certain period.

The Hiring Incentive provides up to 600,000 won per employee over a maximum of six months (100,000 won per month) to companies that newly hire young workers under the age of 39 as regular employees. The Safety Work-Up Project offers up to 20,000,000 won per company to improve working environments, and the Shared Facility Improvement Project provides up to 10,000,000 won per company to expand convenience facilities such as break rooms.

In addition, for the Settlement Support Fund, which targets young employees, newly hired workers receive 1,000,000 won after three months and another 1,000,000 won after six months of continuous employment, for a maximum total of 2,000,000 won.

A representative of the Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry stated, "This project is significant not only as a simple job support program but also in encouraging long-term employment among young people and establishing a foundation for the sustainable growth of companies. We expect it will provide practical help in resolving the labor shortage in the home appliance industry, as well as in supporting the settlement of young talent in the region and promoting employment stability."
