Applications Accepted Until May 2
Reducing Rice Farming Management Costs
Jeongeup City in North Jeolla Province will be accepting applications for the '2025 Rice Purchase Material (Ton Bag) Support Project' until May 2.
According to the city on April 22, this project will subsidize 50% of the purchase cost for ton bags (800kg/1,000kg), which are used for storage and transportation of grains after rice harvesting. The city plans to allocate a total budget of 200 million won to supply approximately 21,050 ton bags.
Eligible applicants are farmers who, as of December 31 of last year, are registered residents of Jeongeup City, cultivate at least 1,000 square meters of rice, and are registered as agricultural business entities. Applications can be submitted at the administrative welfare centers of the applicant’s respective township, town, or neighborhood.
To expand tangible benefits for small and medium-sized rice farms, the city will prioritize farms cultivating 2 hectares or less, and if there is remaining supply, the support will be extended to farms cultivating up to 5 hectares. The maximum number of ton bags that can be supported per farm is 20.
A city official stated, "Ton bags are highly useful when shipping public stockpiled rice, and they enhance both the efficiency of harvesting operations and the safety of farm work. Through this support, we expect to reduce the management cost burden for farms, standardize material supply, and improve administrative efficiency."
Meanwhile, the city plans to continue implementing various policies that actively reflect the opinions of those in the agricultural field, providing customized support throughout all stages from farming preparation to harvest, so as to offer practical assistance to farms.
