This initiative was implemented to renovate the urban garden, which was established in 2023, in accordance with the season and to promote a sustainable urban agriculture culture. About 20 members of the Namyangju City chapter of Master Gardener, an urban agriculture expert group, participated as volunteers.
Prior to the activities, the city's Agricultural Technology Center provided participants with education on understanding perennial plants and planting design. After the educational session, volunteers engaged in hands-on activities, including fertilizer application, drainage maintenance, and plant planting.
An official from the Agricultural Technology Center stated, "This activity is not just about simple garden maintenance, but is part of an effort to create a new urban agriculture culture together with urban agriculture experts," adding, "We will continue to develop an urban agriculture model unique to Namyangju City."
Namyangju City plans to continue managing the urban garden in cooperation with Master Gardener, including seasonal flower replenishment, and will also promote initiatives such as seed sharing and urban garden education.
