Park Youngdon, Kim Wontak, Yang Namgeun, and Cho Mija Receive "County Citizen Award"

Damyang County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Jeong Cheolwon) announced on April 22 that it recently held a selection committee meeting at the Songgangjeong Room of the county office and finalized the recipients of the "County Citizen Award" and the "Honorary County Citizenship Certificate."
This year, three individuals were selected for the main Damyang County Citizen Award, one from each category. Youngdon Park, president of the Damyang County branch of the Korean Senior Citizens Association and recipient of the main award in the "Social Welfare" category, has been dedicated to improving the quality of life for the elderly and has set an example through various community service activities with local residents.
Wontak Kim, secretary-general of the Damyang County Gateball Association and recipient in the "Sports Promotion" category, has achieved outstanding results in various competitions by discovering talented athletes and engaging in active participation. He has also worked to expand grassroots sports and promote public health through cooperation with other organizations and groups.
Namgeun Yang, president of the Subuk Agricultural Cooperative and recipient in the "Industrial Economy" category, was recognized for his contributions to improving the social and economic status of farmers and establishing a foundation for increased income through management innovation.
The "Special Award" went to Mija Cho, senior vice president of the Gwangju-Jeonnam City and Provincial Women's Association. Cho was recognized for revitalizing the hometown association with a spirit of harmony and service, as well as for her achievements in promoting the Hometown Love Donation Program and charitable activities.
Additionally, Hyein Kim, Damyang County's rural attorney, and Dain Park, head of the Agricultural Policy Support Team at the Damyang County branch of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, were selected as recipients of the Damyang County "Honorary County Citizenship Certificate." The county plans to hold an award ceremony for the County Citizen Award and Honorary County Citizenship Certificate at the "46th Damyang County Citizen's Day Commemoration Ceremony" on May 3.
Governor Jeong Cheolwon stated, "I extend my deepest gratitude and congratulations to the recipients who have quietly dedicated themselves to the development of the community and the welfare of its citizens," adding, "I hope that more unsung contributors will be recognized in the future and serve as warm role models for society."
