On April 22, Gwangju City announced that it will participate in Korea's largest information and communication technology (ICT) exhibition, the '2025 World IT Show,' which will be held at COEX in Seoul for three days from April 24 to 26. The city will jointly operate an investment promotion booth with the Gwangju Free Economic Zone Authority.
Celebrating its 17th year, the '2025 World IT Show' is the largest exhibition in Korea where visitors can see the latest trends and innovative technologies in the domestic and global ICT industries at a glance. Hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT, the exhibition is expected to attract more than 500 companies from Korea and abroad, as well as approximately 100,000 visitors.
The city and the Gwangju Free Economic Zone Authority plan to promote Gwangju's competitiveness in artificial intelligence (AI) and future mobility industries through a joint booth under the slogan "Korea's New Growth Engine, Gwangju!" They will also conduct investment attraction activities targeting promising domestic and international companies.
Gwangju is building a future-oriented industrial base not only in AI but also across autonomous driving, eco-friendly mobility, and ICT convergence industries. The city offers a wide range of tax benefits, administrative support, and cooperation models to help domestic and foreign companies invest and grow in Gwangju.
The promotion booth will highlight Gwangju's achievements as a hub for advanced industries, including the operation of the National AI Data Center, the designation of the Gwangju AI Convergence District (Cheomdan 3 District) and Bitgreen National Industrial Complex as Opportunity Development Zones, selection as an outstanding local government for investment attraction in 2024, designation as a Future Mobility National Industrial Complex, and the successful attraction of fabless semiconductor companies such as FuriosaAI.
In addition, the booth will offer one-on-one business consultations for practical investment attraction, including customized industrial sites for companies, various tax incentives, and talent development systems through industry-academia-research cooperation.
At the booth, Gwangju Urban Corporation and the Gwangju Research and Development Special Zone Headquarters will provide consultations on leasing and moving into the AI Convergence District. Local companies such as Jendaive Co., Ltd. and Boda Co., Ltd. will directly showcase their AI services and drone technology platforms and offer technical consultations.
The Gwangju AI Convergence District, currently being developed in Oryong-dong, Buk-gu, is an important base for building an AI industry innovation ecosystem that integrates AI infrastructure, talent, and companies, and for leading advanced science and technology innovation. The district features a differentiated AI industrial environment, including the National AI Data Center, which has been in operation since 2023, and 77 types of demonstration equipment such as a large-scale driving simulator.
Sun Seokgi, Commissioner of the Gwangju Free Economic Zone Authority, said, "At this event, we will actively promote Gwangju's AI capabilities and differentiated investment environment. We will support efforts to attract the interest of domestic and international companies and turn it into practical investment."
Choi Taejo, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Industry Bureau, emphasized, "Gwangju is a center of innovative industries equipped with key infrastructure such as the National AI Data Center and the Future Mobility National Industrial Complex. Through the promotion booth, we will widely publicize Gwangju's investment environment and technological competitiveness, and strive to turn this into tangible investment."
