Goryeong Community Social Security Council Launches "One Meal of Love, One Bite of Hope" Specialized Program

Side Dish Delivery Service Begins
for At-Risk Children and Adolescents

The Goryeong County Community Social Security Council (co-chaired by Lee Namcheol and Kim Jongtae) will officially launch the "One Meal of Love, One Bite of Hope" specialized program starting April 25.

This initiative is part of building an integrated community care system and aims to expand the scope of care for children in need within the region. Its main goal is to provide balanced meals to children from low-income families who are at risk of skipping meals due to economic or environmental difficulties, and to support their healthy growth through nutrition education and emotional support.

The program is supported by the Gyeongbuk Community Chest of Korea and will operate for approximately eight months, from April to November this year. Eligible children will be selected based on recommendations from township offices and the Hope Welfare Support Group. Through a business agreement with the local self-support center (Oneul-ui Chance), meals will be provided in the form of lunchbox (side dish) deliveries every two weeks during the project period. In addition, nutrition education and healthy eating habit materials will be provided to help children practice proper dietary habits on their own.

Notably, this project goes beyond one-time support. By collaborating with local human resources such as township Community Social Security Council members and village heads, the program will monitor children’s nutritional status and satisfaction, incorporate feedback, and aim to establish a sustainable community care system.

Kim Jongtae, co-chair, stated, "This project marks the starting point for building a comprehensive support network for children in need of care under the value of integrated community care," adding, "We will work together as a community to create an environment where children can grow up healthy and stable."

Goryeong County and the Community Social Security Council plan to secure additional funding to expand the "One Meal of Love, One Bite of Hope" program, promote the initiative through various channels such as township offices and related agencies, and actively identify eligible children to ensure that no child is left in the blind spots of care.
