Gwangyang City Offers "Four-Minute Miracle" Training During the Golden Time

Talent Donation of CPR and First Aid Training
for Citizens

The Gwangyang Volunteer Center in South Jeolla Province announced on the 22nd that it conducted "Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid Training" at the Volunteer Sharing Center training room on the 19th.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is an emergency procedure performed on patients whose breathing and heart function have stopped due to cardiac arrest. Its importance is being increasingly emphasized as the population ages and the number of acute cardiac arrest cases rises.

Gwangyang City Offers "Four-Minute Miracle" Training During the Golden Time Cardiopulmonary resuscitation training.

In particular, performing CPR within four minutes of cardiac arrest can reduce brain damage and increase the survival rate. For this reason, this period is called the "golden time" or the "four-minute miracle."

Since 2015, the Gwangyang Volunteer Center has been consistently running the "Four-Minute Miracle" training with the goal of protecting citizens' lives by strengthening emergency response capabilities. This year as well, the center plans to provide training to 40 citizens once a month until November.

The training covers evacuation procedures in case of fire, appropriate actions when encountering an emergency patient, checking the response of a cardiac arrest patient, hands-on CPR practice using a mannequin, the Heimlich maneuver, and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED). The program consists of both theoretical and practical sessions to ensure a swift response in the event of cardiac arrest.

This particular session was conducted as a talent donation by Lee Wonhui, president of the 119 Miracle Volunteer Group. Citizens who complete the training will receive four hours of volunteer credit. In addition, those who complete the course will have the opportunity to participate in a CPR competition held at the Volunteer Festival.

Ha Taewoo, head of the Gwangyang City Community Welfare Division, stated, "CPR training is essential for protecting the lives of our families, friends, and neighbors," adding, "Following last year, we are once again providing systematic CPR education for Gwangyang citizens this year." He continued, "Gwangyang City will continue to take the lead in protecting precious lives and creating a safe living environment."
