Continuing education for nurses is a mandatory requirement for license maintenance, and the Korean Nurses Association operates a designation system for institutions that provide continuing education in order to ensure systematic management.

The Southeast Regional Radiation Medical Center was designated as a continuing education provider by the Korean Nurses Association in September 2022, and has since developed and regularly conducted its own continuing education programs tailored to the hospital’s operational characteristics each year.

In particular, medical staff and experts with extensive experience in treating cancer and critically ill patients have served as instructors, offering continuing education for nurses on topics such as "Nursing Care for Cancer Patients," "Nursing Care for Terminal Cancer Patients," and "Understanding and Application of Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Methodologies." The practical, hands-on nature of these programs has received positive feedback from field nurses, who have found them to be genuinely helpful.

For 2025, the center has prepared continuing education under the theme "Emergency Nursing for Ward Nurses" and held the first session on April 17. The program will be conducted a total of three times on the same theme, with additional sessions scheduled for July 11 and November 13.

The continuing education program, themed "Emergency Nursing for Ward Nurses," is structured to enhance nursing competencies through topics such as: assessment of respiratory emergencies in the ward, assessment of neurological emergencies, understanding of fluids and electrolytes, understanding of acid-base imbalance, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency pharmacotherapy, and airway management and oxygen therapy.

Jang Heesoon, Head of the Nursing Department, stated, "We have carefully selected and structured the core content essential for practical emergency nursing care in the ward, and we hope this will provide tangible benefits for nurses in enhancing their clinical competencies. Moving forward, we will continue to strengthen the roles of the Nursing Education Committee and dedicated nurse educators to provide professional education and support its immediate application in practice, thereby striving to improve the quality of nursing and ensure patient safety."
