Google Korea Appoints Hwang Sunghye as Head of Public Policy and External Affairs

Google Korea announced on April 22 that it has appointed Vice President Hwang Sung-hye (pictured) as Head of Public Policy and External Affairs. As the new Vice President, Hwang Sung-hye will oversee all matters related to public policy and external affairs for Google Korea.

Vice President Hwang is a seasoned expert with 30 years of experience in public policy and communications at media outlets and global corporations, and has led various external cooperation strategies at major companies.

She previously led government healthcare policy initiatives at Johnson & Johnson Korea, a global healthcare company. Prior to that, she headed the External Affairs and Market Access & Reimbursement departments at Pfizer Korea, where she contributed to improving patient access to innovative medicines and enhancing patients' quality of life through collaboration with the government, media, patient groups, and associations.

Google Korea stated, "We sincerely welcome Vice President Hwang Sung-hye, who brings extensive expertise in external affairs and a deep understanding of the industry. We expect her to play a significant role in fostering mutually cooperative relationships through ongoing communication with the government and relevant industries in the field of public policy and external affairs at Google."

Vice President Hwang also commented, "I am pleased to join Google on its journey toward sustainable growth together with its global users, partners, and local communities. I will do my utmost to strengthen communication with various stakeholders and ensure that Google's technology has a positive impact across Korean society."

Vice President Hwang graduated from Yonsei University with a degree in Mass Communication, holds a master's degree in Economics from Sogang University and an MBA from NEOMA Business School in France, and completed a doctoral program in Mass Communication at Chung-Ang University.
